Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian has been a Canadian and American feminist media critic for over 20 years. She is also an accomplished public speaking. Feminist Frequency was founded by Sarkeesian. The site hosts videos which include commentary on the representations of women that are prevalent in the media and popular culture of today. Anita Sarkeesian was a Canadian and American feminist media critic. Feminist Frequency, a web-based resource for education that examines women's positions in the pop culture narratives was the result of her research. The site also has the director of operations. Aiming to break down the stereotypes of women that have been portrayed in pop culture she also is a vocal advocate for issues relating to targeted exploitation of women and other marginalized classes of individuals in the internet world. Sarkeesian holds a bachelor's degree in the fields of social thought and political science at York University. She is an extremely well-respected and respected public speaker. Sarkeesian gave speeches to the TEDxWomen XOXO Festival and United Nations Broadband Working Group. While a student at university, Sarkeesian became interested in the issues surrounding gender and rights for women in the early stages. The determined young woman was targeted by the Internet for starting a web that focused on the gender of videogames. It was not enough to deter her. It actually strengthened her commitment to being a feminist and a media critique. In recognition of the many achievements she's made for feministism, she's recognized with numerous awards. Anita Sarkeesian is an award nominated media critic as well as the founder of Feminist Frequency an educational and non-profit organization that explores the representations of women in popular media narratives.
